Walking tracks policy

Walking in national parks and reserves is a wonderful low-impact way to understand and enjoy these areas. The NPWS aims to:

  • provide a range of walking experiences in parks that are suitable to the location and setting
  • provide quality walking experiences for park visitors which fosters public appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of natural and cultural heritage in parks
  • effectively communicate the different types of walking track experiences that are available in parks

The Walking Tracks policy sets the framework for providing and managing walking tracks in parks. Please use the download button at right to view the policy.
