NSW washing machine rebate

The NSW Washing Machine Rebate will be available from August 1, 2008. It will provide $150 cashback on any 4.5 star rated washing machine purchased for a residential property in NSW. A 4.5 star water efficient washing machine can save up to 100 litres per wash compared to an old top-loader. A family washing more than six loads a week would save up to 31,000 litres of water a year.

Does your washing machine qualify for the rebate?

To qualify you must:

  • purchase a new washing machine with at least a 4.5 star water efficiency rating from 1 August 2008 to 30 June 2010 inclusive
  • purchase the machine for personal use
  • install the machine in a residential property in NSW.

How to claim your rebate

To claim your rebate you will need to:

  • Complete a rebate application form (828Kb pdf, requires Acrobat reader)
  • attach the original receipt for the washing machine showing payment in full
  • read and accept the terms and conditions
  • send your completed application form and receipt to:

PO Box A290 Sydney South NSW 1232.

There is a limit of one rebate per property.

Subject to verification you should receive your rebate cheque within 60 days of the Department of Environment and Climate Change receiving your application.

Sydney Water is administering the washing machine rebate for its customers, visit Sydney Water's website for the correct application form.
