Rehabilitation of protected fauna policy 2010

The Rehabilitation of protected fauna policy 2010 defines the relationship between OEH and fauna rehabilitators.

Key elements of the policy include:

  • a strategic approach to licensing fauna rehabilitation groups, which focuses on consolidating existing services
  • an area-based licensing system with a provision for neighbouring groups to authorise members in each other’s area through a Memorandum of Understanding
  • a specified level of DECCW engagement with groups including attending meetings, contributing to training courses and auditing rehabilitation facilities.
