Companion animal keeper's licence

For those people who want to keep only one (1) native reptile, bird or frog, OEH provides a simpler and cheaper licence type option called a companion animal keeper's licence. Persons who acquire this licence type are not required to maintain and submit a fauna record book. However, this licence type restricts you to a limited number of  class 1 species  (currentspecieslist.pdf, 431KB) and a maximum of one animal is allowed to be kept at any one time. Other licence conditions apply (CompanionNativeAKLSampleConditions.pdf, 16KB).

You can apply online for a companion animal keepers licence or download the Companion Native Animal Keepers Application Form (calappform.pdf, 122KB) and send it to the Wildlife Licensing and Management Unit.
