Public Facilities Program
The Public Facilities Program funds water and energy savings in public and community facilities in NSW. As well as delivering water, energy and greenhouse gas savings, the program aims to showcase technologies in action to encourage uptake by the wider community.
Under the Public Facilities Program, $17 million is being provided for 71 Demonstration projects and $10.2 million to 442 Community Savers projects. Together, this is estimated to save 5.8 billion litres of water, 265,000 megawatt hours of electricity and 257,900 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in the first ten years. This will save an estimated $5.8 million a year in water and energy bills. The following projects are being funded:
Demonstration projects demonstrate how water and energy savings work in practice in public or educational facilities which are open to, and frequently accessed, by the public.

The Demonstration stream will not continue. This follows a recommendation made by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of NSW (IPART) within their 2009 review of NSW climate change mitigation measures.
Community Savers projects - funding of up to $40,000 for not-for-profit community organisations to undertake simple, low-cost water and energy saving upgrades in the facilities they use.
A total of 442 community organisations have received $10.2 million to make their facilities more water and energy efficient, saving an estimated 2.2 billion litres of water and 85,000 tonnes of carbon pollution in the first ten years alone.
Not-for-profit organisations undertaking an upgrade will also save an average of $4,394 a year on bills.
