Public Facilities Program

Oberon bowls club, a community savers funded project
The Public Facilities program provided funding for water and energy efficiency upgrades in public and community facilities in NSW. The program is now closed.

Under the Program $15.9 million was provided for 68 Demonstration projects and $9.9 million to 439 Community Savers projects.  Together, this is estimated to save 4.7 billion litres of water, 265,000 megawatt hours of electricity and 256,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in the first 10 years.  This will save an estimated $5.9 million a year off power and water bills.  The following projects are being funded:

Demonstration projects - were funded to demonstrate how water and energy savings work in practice in public or educational facilities which are open to, and frequently accessed, by the public.

Community Savers projects - were funded up to $40,000 for not-for-profit community organisations to undertake simple, low-cost water and energy saving upgrades in the facilities they use.  Not-for-profit organisations undertaking an upgrade will also save an average of $5,129 a year on bills.
