History

The steam ferry Greycliffe sank off Bradleys Head, Sydney Harbour on 3 November 1927 with the loss of a reported 40 lives. The tragedy occurred after a collision with another steamer, the Tahiti. The wreck of the Grecyliffe was subsequently raised.

The Greycliffe was owned by Sydney Ferries and was under the command of Captain Barnes. The vessel was built in 1911 by David Drake Ltd of Balmain, Sydney Harbour and was 38m in length.
