Alexander McPhee’s steamer Pearl, which travelled between Grafton and Copmanhurst, sank at Grafton Wharf on the morning of July 29th, 1921; only a small section of the steamer’s funnel could be seen above the water. She had a heavy load of general goods from various stores in Grafton for customers up river on board when she sank; some of the cargo was saved.
