This report is part of a technical series developed for the NSW Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Program.

The NSW Government set a statewide target to increase the capacity of natural resource managers to contribute to regionally relevant natural resource management. This natural resource management target was one of 13 natural resource targets recommended by the Natural Resources Commission in 2005 and adopted by the NSW Government in 2006.

This report describes the development of a self-assessment process to monitor, evaluate and report progress towards increasing the capacity to manage natural resources.
