Heritage Near Me grants

Historical details of 3 grants programs that have now ended.

These grants were part of the Heritage Near Me Program, which was developed to help local government, industry and communities protect their local heritage.

Activation grants

The Heritage Near Me Activation Grants Program supported projects that actively increased community interaction and participation with publicly accessible heritage items listed in a council’s local environmental plan. This program recognised the importance of activating local heritage spaces and precincts to conserve their heritage significance.

The following projects were approved by the NSW Government through the Heritage Near Me incentives program for 2016–19.

Note: The 4-year Heritage Near Me program ended in June 2019. There are no longer any grants available under this program. Check the list of other grant funding opportunities.

Green energy

The Heritage Near Me Green Energy Grants Program supported energy efficiency projects for heritage items listed on a council’s local environment plan or the State Heritage Register. This program recognised that energy efficiency can be more difficult to achieve for heritage items because of a building’s age, materials, type of construction, size, shape and site orientation.

These grants were awarded for 2017–19 under this category.

Local heritage

The Local Heritage Strategic Projects Program supported local communities to enhance and protect their local heritage assets. The focus of the program was to drive innovation and improve the long-term sustainability and management of NSW’s heritage spaces and values. These strategic projects were developed in collaboration with the Heritage Near Me Team.
