This report is part of a technical series developed for the NSW Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Program.

The NSW Government set a statewide natural resource management targets for the conservation of biodiversity, as recommended by the Natural Resources Commission in 2005. These targets relate to the extent and condition of native vegetation, the sustainability of native fauna species, the recovery of threatened species, and the impact of invasive species.

This report details the data sources and analyses used to measure the recovery of threatened species in NSW and generate baseline data against which to measure progress towards the statewide threatened species target that: ‘By 2015 there is an increase in the recovery of threatened species, populations and ecological communities’.
