The Scientific Committee, established by the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (the Act), has made a Final Determination to REJECT a proposal to list Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub in the Sydney Basin Bioregion as a Critically Endangered Ecological Community in Part 2 of Schedule 1 A of the Act. Rejection of nominations is provided for by Part 2 of the Act.

This Determination has been superseded by the 2017 Final Determination (Critically endangered ecological community).

NSW Scientific Committee - final determination

The Scientific Committee has found that:

1. The Scientific Committee made a Preliminary Determination under Section 22 of the Act to support a proposal to list Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub in the Sydney Basin Bioregion as a CRITICALLY ENDANGERED ECOLOGICAL COMMUNITY in Part 2 of Schedule 1A of the Act in April 2016.

2. On the basis of submissions received, the Committee determined that the Preliminary Determination was not an accurate representation of the distribution of the Community and its associated assemblage of species.

3. The Scientific Committee intends to prepare a revised Preliminary Determination.
