Stream 4: Home Composting

This stream has been discontinued.

Purpose

This is a $54 million program that provides funding through the following streams:

  1. Organics Processing Infrastructure
  2. Business Organics Recycling
  3. Food Donation
  4. Product Quality
  5. Home Composting (this page).

This stream supported compost bins and worm farms to enhance council organics waste management and home composting programs.

This program was delivered through a partnership between the NSW Environmental Trust and the Environment Protection Authority under Waste Less, Recycle More.  Additional information can be found on the EPA website.

Funding

Grants of between $5,000 and $75,000 were available to cover up to 50% of small infrastructure such as compost bins and kitchen caddies.

Who could apply?

Grants were available to:

  • NSW councils (as defined in the NSW Local Government Act).
  • Other local government controlled organisations (or deemed to have the same local government function).
  • Regional Organisations of Councils who could apply or coordinate projects on behalf of one or several NSW councils within their regional group, provided each council nominated a contact person for the project.

 

Reporting

The reporting templates for grantees are provided below (a quick link for downloading the forms is also available on the right-hand column of this web page). Grantees should refer to their Letter of Agreement for documents and evidence to be submitted in addition to the documents below.

FormPurpose
Project Measures Captures projected and achieved quantitative data for your project. The same report should be built on and submitted for each milestone.
Milestone Report Communicates your project’s progress and achievements at set agreed milestones during the project.
Final Report Communicates your project’s final achievements on project completion.
Statement of Expenditure Reports on expenditure to date for each milestone and final report. The Statement of Expenditure should be built on for each milestone and the final report.

Past recipients

Project summaries are available for the awarded projects to date.  The program has delivered the following funding rounds:

  • In 2015, a total of $21,475 was allocated to 1 project.
  • In 2014, a total of $385,088 was allocated to 7 projects.
  • In 2013, a total of $1,228,302 was allocated to 4 projects.
