First coat of paint

The application of the first coat of paint to various parts of the casting begins to bring the whole achievement to life.

The strongly contrasting red (Gules), white (Argent) and blue (Azure) give the Arms a vitality that is matched by the gold-effect of the polished bronze. Further layers of paint (technically known as acrylic baking enamel) will be added to produce smooth painted surfaces that will further contrast with the textured polished surfaces such as the furs of the kangaroo and lion. The clarity of the black lettering on the pure white ribbon is also evident in this picture.
