This plan replaces the previous plan of management for Limeburners Creek National Park, which was adopted in 1998. It also replaces the statement of management intent for Goolawah National Park and Goolawah Regional Park, which was approved in 2014.

This plan describes how the parks will be managed to achieve the objects of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974, consistent with the management principles under the Act for national parks and regional parks.

Dogs are no longer allowed in Goolawah National Park

From 30 June 2025, dogs are not permitted to walk through Goolawah National Park to reach the off-park dog exercise area at the northern section of Goolawah Beach. Instead, please use the access track via council land at the Skyline Crescent water tanks to the north. This track is part of the Five Headlands Coastal Experience.

Goolawah Beach is a crucial habitat for threatened shorebirds, migratory birds and turtles. Unleashed dogs pose a significant threat to these species and interfere with pest management programs by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.

You can also walk your dogs at Delicate Beach and Big Hill Beach in Goolawah Regional Park. Killick Beach, accessible from Crescent Head, offers both on-leash and off-leash dog exercise areas.
