Record important details
- date, time and exact location of the affected area
- duration of the event
- weather conditions
- your experience
- description of the pesticide user
- symptoms of harm to people, plants or animals
- name or type of pesticide and how it was applied
- the plants it was applied to or situation of use
- description of spray equipment
- how the spray equipment was being used, including the exact location and the direction and speed of movement
- contact details of any other witnesses
- any photographs or video recordings
- details of any notification provided prior to pesticide application (such as signs, letters or telephone calls advising of the pesticide use).
Types of pesticide misuse to report
- failing to follow label or permit instructions
- causing injury
- damaging property
- harming a non-target plant or animal
- using or possessing an unregistered pesticide
- storing pesticides in containers without an approved label
- disposing of a pesticide or its container illegally
- spraying pesticides from an aircraft without a relevant EPA licence
- spraying pesticide from an aircraft within 150 m of a residence, school or other public place without consent of the occupier
- overspray affecting neighbouring properties.
