The Newcastle Air Quality Monitoring Network Spring 2019 Seasonal Newsletter provides an overview of air quality in the region during the spring 2019 period (1 September to 30 November 2019).

Air quality in the Newcastle region was greatly affected by the continuing intense drought conditions and unprecedented extensive bushfires during spring 2019, resulting in poorer air quality throughout the region. Air quality indices, within national benchmarks, were in the good to fair categories 56% of the time at Stockton (which is also affected by sea salt), 76% of the time at Newcastle, 77% at Beresfield and Mayfield, 78% at Carrington and 81% at Wallsend.
