Coolbaggie Nature reserve lies in the Pilliga subregion of the Brigalow Belt South Bioregion. The lands are part of the traditional Country of the Tubba-Gah Wiradjuri People. The park supports habitat for a number of threatened plant and animal species and has significant Aboriginal sites and shared heritage values.

The plan of management enables the continued protection of habitat that supports several threatened species and will help mitigate impacts to the parks' natural and cultural values.

This is the first plan of management for this park.
