Native fish were the target of managed environmental flows in low-lying Murrumbidgee wetlands in the winter of 2017.

River operators forecast higher than normal demand for irrigation purposes in the Murrumbidgee system during Autumn. As a result, environmental water managers reassessed their plans and aimed to deliver environmental flows in July 2017. The flows topped up disconnected wetlands to support native fish.
