Kangaroo management plans, reports and research

Find out how we implement the management plan in our annual reports and yearly quota reports.

We research, prepare and review our commercial  kangaroo harvest  management  plans to provide a management framework so that kangaroo populations can remain ecologically sustainable.

Commercial kangaroo harvest management plans

Read the NSW Commercial Kangaroo Harvest Management Plans 2007-2011, 2012-2016 and 2017-2021, reports commissioned for the preparation of the plans and amendments made to the plans.

The New South Wales Kangaroo Management Program 2002-2006 is included here for reference.

From 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2006, four species of kangaroo -  the red kangaroo (Macropus rufus), the western grey kangaroo (M. fuliginosus), the eastern grey kangaroo (M. giganteus) and the wallaroo (M. robustus robustus) - were managed in NSW under the New South Wales Kangaroo Management Program 2002-2006.
