Air quality in the Newcastle region was generally good during autumn 2023. Daily particle levels were within national benchmarks from 92% of the time at Stockton, 99% at Carrington and Mayfield, and 100% at all other sites. Stockton, Carrington, and Mayfield particle levels are affected by sea salt due to their proximity to the coast. Hourly particle levels were in the good to fair air quality categories from 98.6% to 100% of the time throughout the region.
