The analyses in this report explore and compare how similar (or different) sites were before thinning. In particular, whether sites in the same pre-thinning stem density and site quality classes were more similar to each other than sites in other classes. This may influence the response to ecological thinning.

Ecological thinning treatments will be completed by June 2017. The first post-thinning monitoring program will be implemented in spring–summer 2017, and will be reported on in 2018. Monitoring and reporting will continue annually, with the final monitoring report in 2022.
